I am so sorry that my newsletter from last week did not post. I forgot to hit publish.
Two Weeks ago we really had a great time learning all about leaves and tree's seasonal changes.
We went on a Nature Hunt, created 3-D tree collages and leaf wreaths.
Here are some of the books and songs that we enjoyed last week.
Most of these can be found on You-tube.

Week 10 Fall Animal Friends
This week we used the great outdoors to help us learn about fall creatures.
We dug for acorns like the squirrels and used Fall leaves to create hedgehogs.
It was so nice to get out in the fresh fall air.
We began to learn the difference between fiction and non-fiction.
Picking out details from stories that are fact versus pretend.
We are getting ready for conferences this week and the students are excited to
share all that they can do with you all.

Fire Prevention:
The Department of Public Safety visited our school last week
We discussed the importance of:
Fire alarms
Safe meeting place in the event of a fire
Students also got a tour of the fire truck!
Later in the day we practiced:
Calling 911 using a pretend phone and saying: “Hello this is _____ and we need help!”
Students also learned to put the phone down instead of hanging up.
We also practiced Stop, Drop, and Roll if they are on fire
Please show your child where the fire alarms are in your house and
practice saying their first and last names.

Halloween - Tuesday, October 31st:
Classroom Party 11-12
Outside Parade 3:15
Costumes: Students can wear costumes to school.
If there are masks or items that cover the hands, please plan to keep
those in the backpack during class time and only wear them during
the party and the parade.
Additionally, please do not send in any weapons or gore for school party
--we don't want to scare our littlest learners!
We know this day will be exciting, but any help with eliminating
distractions for learning time will be greatly appreciated.
Parade: We will have a school-wide parade on the 31st.
If weather permits, families are welcome to come and watch the
parade at 3:15 by standing outside the playground fence area.
In the case of rain, the outside portion of the parade will be canceled.
