Week 14. Nov 27- Dec 1.

Week 14 - What will you wear?

As a little change of pace, we are switching up our theme to clothing.
This goes along with our Unit 2 Grapeseed vocabulary, songs and stories.
We will be discussing how we dress changes according to the seasons
and the order in which we put on winter clothes.

Make sure that your child has snow pants, boots, hat and mittens as we enter the winter season.
All items should be marked with child's name/ Initials (duct tape with sharpie markers works well)  Please send waterproof mittens, knit gloves get wet and stay wet for the whole day.
Also check your backpack for wet clothes daily.
Many of the changes of clothes are from warm weather.
Now is a good time to change out for long sleeves and long pants.

Report Cards
Your child's report card will come home Monday or Tuesday.
Please keep the paper copy, sign and return the envelope please.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Week 13 Nov 20-21, 2023

Week 13 November 20-21, 2023

Shortest school week of the year - 2 days

We will continue with our Thanksgiving celebration this week.
Monday we will all eat a thanksgiving meal together.  It will be served family style and we encourage everyone to try the food if they would like.  You may also send your child a cold lunch if you think they will not eat turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn, mashed potatoes and rolls.

Tuesday will be a normal day.

Fall Clean Up
I am going through and organizing the classroom.  We have a new student starting
and we would like to have things fresh and organized for everyone.
Children may mention the changes.  Our new student has some special needs
and we required some things to be moved around to help her focus.
I think the changes will be good for all the children.
Her name is Amina and she will be starting the Monday after Thanksgiving.
She is mostly non-verbal and will be using some alternative communication
like signs, pictures and an ipad to communicate.
She is very friendly and will love being a part of our classroom.

This is a great time to discuss with your child how to be a good friend to someone new.
The children are beginning to get a little bit on each others nerves so
I think the new friend will help us all pull together.
(Also the holiday breaks will help)

LINCOLN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Week 12: Nov 13th - 17th

Week 12 November 13th-17th, 2023

I am so thankful to be back.  I appreciate all the hard work that Mrs Cockrum and our subs
put in to make this a successful week of learning for the kids n spite of my absence.

Six years ago, My middle daughter Bridget was diagnosed with Optic Neuritis -
autoimmune disease of the optic nerve.  She lost complete vision in her right eye
but regained it over time.  3 years ago she had a  flare and we were in
U of M for a week for evaluation and treatment.
On Monday it returned and we were once again sent of U of M for treatment.
We returned home at 11 pm on Friday.
She is recovering but as a high school senior it is hard on her.
Thank you all for your understanding.

Looking forward to lots of fun this week as we celebrate our national bird - The Turkey!
Lots of great stories, songs and crafts to come.
