We are entering our second week of our Friendship/Valentine Theme. 

We have also been learning about the Teen Numbers

 and proper handwriting form.

I will be doing individual assessments for report card 

progress over the next 2 weeks so there many not 

be as many papers going home as usual.  

I will be saving them to add to your child's portfolio.

On Friday, we celebrated the number 100 in honor of being

 in school 100 days.  The children enjoyed creating

 100 themed crafts, books, snack and games.

Kindness Party Wednesday Feb 14th 11-12

The children will be exchanging valentines at the party.

There are 8 girls and 7 boys in the class.

I ask that you have your child sign their name to the card

but leave the classmates names off the valentines/envelopes.

This makes passing out the valentines much easier.

All of you should have received your parent teacher conference note.

Winter conferences are held with about 30% of the families school wide.

If I did not recommend a conference, we can still meet if you have a 

specific concern that you would like to discuss.

I was incorrect in my note and these conferences 

are intended to be child led so your child is encouraged to attend.

  My plan is to meet with all families one more time in May 

to go over your child's progress/portfolio and make a plan 

for things to work on over the summer if needed.

Mrs. Confer’s  Winter Conference 2024 

1/2 days on Thurs Feb 22nd and Fri Feb 23th

Winter Conferences are on a need basis. 

Generally teachers meet with about ⅓ of their families

during Winter Conferences.  All parents can make a conference

request if you have concerns and  would like to meet.

Unlike Fall, Y5 students do not attend winter conferences.

I will be sending home a note this week to let you know if I think we should meet.

These are the times and days for those wishing to meet.

Help with Drop off and Pick up

 Young Five Students often have difficulty getting out of the car 

independently. This can cause a delay in our drop off line.

There is also a safety concern with children getting out 

on the drivers side into moving traffic.

Please park your vehicle at the church on Morton and walk your children over.  

Adults are on the playground at 8:15 and 

I meet to walk the children into school at 8:20.

If you are sending your child for breakfast you can park in t

he front of the school in slanted parking spaces and 

walk them to the gym door at 8:15.  

Please do not drop any child off before 8:15.

This is for the safety of your child.

Please park and walk over for pick up as well.  We dismiss our class at 2:40. 

Young Five parents should not be in their car in the pick up line 

or double parking on Cole.

It is dangerous for the children to walk across the car 

line to get into cars double parked.

It is all about keeping the children safe.

If you are running late for drop off or pick up (after 8:30 or after 3:50)

please let me know  773-968-9657 with a text  

and your child can enter/leave through the front office.
